Each home or office is filled with extraordinary, unique people who fill their days with moments. We try to create surroundings that fit their lives, yet enhance and bring warmth and good design into their every day. In an era where you can copy or imitate so much, we try really hard to make each project ‘their’ environment with an experienced eye and vision of 35 years. Color, great finishes, fabrics, textures mixed with God’s great creations, like granite, and molded glass, metals, woods, and so much more make each interior or exterior environment we bring to life, special. Our hope is that the past years in the Interior Design world have taught us so much more then trends, and fads: it’s taught us about people, and how they live, sleep, eat, work, play!
A typical Design project starts with the ‘ask’, the realization of the ‘need’ for a professional to help them and their team of architects and builders to create an environment with ‘their vision’. They expect us to bring their vision to a reality of function, comfort, yet with design, structure and all with their flare. Back years ago, the field was soooo different: clients came to Interior Designers helpless for the most part. Most clientele really only knew a small amount of what they liked….they knew they hated blue, or loved yellow. They would usually say things like “I need a dining table that can expand from 8 – 16 for the holidays, etc., but for the most part there was a true ‘freedom’ given to designers and yes, that was great! We saw them at the interview, a few more review/estimate meetings and then at the front door of their new home with a glass of champagne. It was very exciting for sure.
Today’s client is very different for the most part. They’ve talked with every one they can, ‘pinned’ their fav’s to their ‘home boards’ on Pinterest, put their idea book together on Houzz, but when they realize that it isn’t coming together or they are puzzled at how to make it come together they call a designer. Ha…at first, this was a real change for designers, but now I think enough time has passed and to be honest…it has brought design to another place. I think it’s made the design team and client come together in ways that only could be a positive. The homes and offices are truly spaces they will love, and enjoy and feel a part of. So…bring on social media and the craziness of the internet…it has it’s positives in the bigger picture.
